Please reach out to dr.burke@buxmontpsych.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy sessions for a wide variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.
Individual, couples, and group sessions are 50 minutes long. Longer sessions are available upon request and when clinically indicated.
As an out-of-network provider, I do not accept insurance, however, I can provide a monthly superbill upon request if you'd like to submit claims to your insurance company for reimbursement. Some plans will reimburse fully, some partially, some only once you've met your out-of-pocket deductible, and others may not reimburse at all. If you're concerned about reimbursement, contact your insurance company directly to review your out-of-network mental health benefits.
The sign-up process is streamlined and simple. Once you reach out expressing interest in services, I'll contact you within 48 hours to set up your free and confidential 15-minute phone consultation. In that call we'll go over what you're looking for, I'll answer any questions you may have, and if you're ready, we'll schedule your first appointment. You'll complete pre-appointment paperwork electronically prior to your intake session which saves time and allows us to delve right in during the first appointment.
Many of my clients are professionals in various industries, parents, caretakers, retirees, and high school, college, or graduate students. My clients are often managing several life, work, academic and family demands.
Buxmont Psychological uses a secure, HIPAA compliant online therapy portal (©TherapyNotes, LLC) where you will create a patient portal account, complete pre-appointment paperwork electronically, receive appointment reminders to your email, and join telehealth sessions.
I do not prescribe psychotropic medications and am not a medical doctor. Psychologists are able to provide diagnoses, treatment interventions, and psychological assessment/testing services.
Licensed psychologists have a doctorate (either PsyD or PhD) and typically complete 5-6 years of graduate school in addition to a postdoctoral training year. Other types of therapists and counselors (e.g. Licensed Professional Counselors/LCP's, Licensed Mental Health Counselors/LMHC's, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists/LMFT's, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers/LCSW's) hold a master's degree and typically complete 2-3 years of graduate school. Those marketing themselves as life coaches or mentors may or may not have an academic degree or professional training in treating mental health concerns and are not licensed by a regulatory board or bound to follow a standardized code of ethics set forth by various accrediting bodies/systems (e.g. the American Psychological Association or American Counseling Association). Unlike other providers, licensed psychologists are trained in psychological assessment/testing and have several more years of in-depth coursework and supervised training in diagnosis, evidence-based interventions, and biological/neurological bases of behavior. Regardless of these 'on paper' differences, the best therapist for you will be one whose personality, therapeutic approach, and clinical experience/skillset aligns with your personality, preferences, and wellness goals.
